General Description


With vibrant magenta flowers and spiny fruit, this cactus thrives in desert clusters. Its upright stems sprawl as they grow, adorned with short spines and longer central, twisted ones. This resilient cactus, reaching heights of 64 centimeters, showcases nature's remarkable adaptability in harsh landscapes.

Habitat


The strawberry hedgehog grows in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico across deserts, grasslands, and woodlands. Its versatility allows it to flourish from sea level to elevated areas, presenting the adaptability of desert flora to various landscapes and conditions.

Life Expectancy


The strawberry hedgehog endures extreme temperatures and water scarcity and can live for several decades, often surpassing 50 years in ideal conditions.
